Las Vegas is one of the most exciting vacation spots with a wide variety of attractions and activities. It’s famous for top-notch hotels, dining experiences, live entertainment, concerts, sporting events and other fun activities. Las Vegas features shopping and dining experiences unlike any others found in other cities, and it’s always a great repeat destination because Sin City is always reinventing itself. Each visit is guaranteed to bring something new to explore.

Las Vegas Hotels

So many beautiful and excellent hotels are on the famous Las Vegas Strip that narrowing down your choices can be a challenge. Some of the highest-rated ones are Mandalay Bay, the MGM Grand, and the Bellagio.

Located at the south end of Las Vegas Boulevard, Mandalay Bay and its sister hotel next door, THE hotel, are impossible to miss due to their shiny gold facades. Mandalay Bay has beautifully decorated rooms with private hot tubs and minibars. This hotel is also home to the Moorea Beach Club, an outdoor swimming pool complete with a wave machine and sandy beach. It’s also a concert venue with water on three sides of the projected stage, a VIP upper deck with full bars, and plenty of cabanas for relaxing and enjoying the music. Another famous stop at Mandalay is the hotel’s shark reef aquarium, which houses many sharks, sea turtles, rays, and reptiles as well as interactive exhibits.

The MGM Grand is located a few blocks north and on the opposite side of the street from Mandalay Bay. It’s also impossible to miss, due to its shiny emerald green glass structure and gold lion sculpture by the front entrance. Hot Vegas summers are the best times to stay at the MGM Grand because the hotel features over 6 acres of outdoor swimming pools. The Grand Pool Complex has four sparkling blue pools, luxurious rental cabanas, poolside drink service, and cascading waterfalls.

The Bellagio hotel is instantly recognizable for its enormous and elaborate water fountain shows, which go off at regular intervals throughout the day and night. The dancing fountains are set to music and lit with beautiful lights once the sun sets. Inside the Bellagio, the hotel is also famous for its botanical gardens intricately crafted with different designs throughout the year. The Bellagio also has one of the best buffets in all of Las Vegas, featuring fresh seafood, sushi, steaks, and side dishes. Over a dozen other specialty restaurants are inside the opulent hotel that recalls the architecture of Monaco and Lake Como, Italy. Its location near the center of the Vegas Strip allows easy access to nearby shopping and other attractions.

Las Vegas Shows

Another challenge on any Las Vegas trip is deciding which live show to see. With so many playing nearly every night of the week, the options are innumerable. Some long-running favorites are from the Cirque du Soleil brand, and seeing one show will explain why it’s been a Vegas mainstay for so many years. The most popular ones are “Mystere,” “O,” and “Michael Jackson ONE.” The performance of “O” takes place on a stage of water, with acrobats doing awe-inspiring tricks above the pool before diving in and surfacing. “Michael Jackson ONE,” a tribute to the King of Pop, is packed with stunts set to his music. “Mystere” is the longest-running Cirque show in Las Vegas, and the production is both whimsical and amazing.

Outside of Cirque du Soleil, other popular Vegas shows include “Absinthe,” “Mindfreak,” and “Le Reve.” Located in the Roman Plaza near the front entrance at Caesars Palace, the show features a funny and irreverent host named “The Gazillionaire,” along with old-school burlesque acts, comedy routines and risque’ acrobatic acts. “Le Reve” is staged at the visually stunning Wynn hotel’s in-the-round theater that creates a feeling of breaking the “fourth wall” throughout the performance. Aerialists and synchronized swimmers appear from every possible angle in the theater, performing several different mesmerizing acts. “Mindfreak” is the creation of famous illusionist Chris Angel, whose edgy show features 3D special effects, optical illusions, laser explosions, and pyrotechnics.

Other Things to Do in Las Vegas

Zip lining, indoor skydiving, and free live music are just a few other fun options in Las Vegas. The Slotzilla zip line, located under the famous Fremont Street Experience overhead screen, allows visitors to fly along while the light show plays at the top of every evening hour. Vegas Indoor Skydiving is only a block off the Strip and gives the thrill of skydiving without the need to wear a parachute and jump out of a plane. Propellers create wind vacuums of up to 120 miles per hour, lifting participants off the floor and creating a lot of gravity-free fun. The sky-diving facility is open to all ages and offers instruction in free-falling every half-hour.

Visiting Las Vegas during the early summer to Labor Day weekend also affords the chance to see classic rock acts at Downtown Rocks, Fremont Street’s free summer concert series. Thanks to regentrification, downtown Las Vegas is well worth a visit for its new trendy restaurants, museums, and nightlife. A popular draw at the beginning of every month is downtown’s First Friday Festival, known for its art exhibits, vendors, street performances, and pub crawls.

Las Vegas is an exciting city with a lot to offer for visitors from all walks of life. It’s one of the top destinations in the world for concerts, live stage shows, and major sporting events. In recent years, Sin City has also become one of the best cities for world-class dining experiences as well. It’s the ideal place for your next getaway because the city is constantly evolving and offering new experiences with every visit.
